Green Cleaning
Green cleaning products can be purchased commercially
or made at home using non-toxic, everyday items. On a healthy and green
living site Annie B. Bond wrote down these amazing recipes. The following
materials can all be used to create a variety of cleansers:
• 6 clean spray bottles
• 2 glass jars
• baking soda
• washing soda (sodium carbonate – different from baking
soda, Borax)
• white distilled vinegar and/or lemon juice
• good liquid soap or detergent
• tea tree oil
Green cleaning is not only less expensive than traditional products
bought at the store, but it’s also safe to your body and others
exposed to the products. With the above materials you can make a soft
scrub, window cleaner, oven cleaners, degreasers, mold killers and deodorizers.
For example, to make your own all-purpose spray cleaner combine two
teaspoons washing soda, a bit of liquid soap and two cups of hot tap
water in a spray bottle and shake until the washing soda dissolves.
Apply and wipe off.
For green cleaning the oven, sprinkle a good amount of water on the
bottom of the oven. Add a very liberal amount of baking soda –
enough to more than cover the bottom and make the bottom appear completely
white. Let this mixture set over night. In the morning, all the grime
will wipe right off and you can use a dab of liquid soap to remove the
residue.
